The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) and Downtown Traders will hold a joint sit-in protest today at historical Jama Masjid Srinagar at 1.30pm against the civilian killing in Shopian. JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik said that the sit -in will be observed in wake of the recent civilian killings in Shopian. Pertinently, three civilians were killed in army firing in Shopian on January 27
Earlier two youth Javed Ahmad Bhat (20) of Balpora and Suhail Javed Lone (24) of Ganowpora Shopian died while several others were injured in army firing at Ganawpora village of Shopian on January 27 while as Rayees Ahmed Ganaie who was critically injured succumbed to injuries today after battling for life for about five days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura. The passing away of Rayees has taken death toll in the Shopian firing incident to three. State government has already ordered an inquiry in the Shopian firing incident.
